Refund enquiries on clients' returns should not be directed to your EFILE Help Desk. Please direct all refund enquiries to the general enquiries section of your tax services office. Advise your clients that our enquiries officers cannot check the status of a refund until four weeks after the Canada Revenue Agency has accepted the electronic return for processing. Therefore, if a delay is encountered in submitting the return, you must inform your client accordingly.
Your clients can also visit My Account to get information about the status of their current-year refund.
If you calculated a balance owing on your client's personal income tax return, the processing of the return will be held for a maximum of 10 days (3 cycles). Any payment made within that period should be reflected on the Notice of Assessment. If it is not indicated, a revised statement will be issued as soon as the payment has been applied (as indicated in a message printed on the Notice of Assessment).
Inform clients who have a balance owing that any unpaid balance is due on April 30, 2010.
