Account Renewal

To renew your account, LOG IN with your EFILE Number and password, and select "Account Renewal" on the resulting Web page.

Yearly renewal is mandatory for your continued participation in electronic filing.

The only way you can renew your account is online.

An account renewal option is available to all registered users of EFILE, including those participants who filed through a third party transmitter. You will be registering to use either one, or both, of our Internet based EFILE Online or EFILE Online Plus options.

You will see a screen display that shows your current EFILE account data. Since we use this information to contact you throughout the year, please ensure that the following information is current:

• mailing address;
• EMAIL address;
• contact person;
• telephone number with the extension; and
• fax number.

Issuance of password

The system will verify the submitted form and will generate error messages, if necessary. Make any required corrections, and resubmit the form. Once the form has been accepted and your account renewed, the system will display a confirmation page, similar to the following example, which will contain your new password.

Suitability screening is performed on all EFILE participants. This process may take up to 30 days. To allow enough time for the review of your application before the filing season starts, we encourage you to renew your application as soon as possible. While this activity is being carried out, we restrict the access your EFILE Number and new password provides. You will not be permitted to file T1 Returns or submit SEND requests; although you will be able to perform EFILE Online Account Maintenance activities.

You may also continue to file corporation income tax returns up to December 31 using your current EFILE number and password. To file corporation income tax returns after that date, you will need to have renewed your EFILE account and passed suitability screening. Once you have applied to renew your account and have been assigned a new password, you must use the new password to electronically file your corporation income tax returns. If you renewed your account but have not passed suitability screening by December 31, you will no longer be able to transmit corporation income tax returns using your EFILE Online number and password.

When we have completed the screening and you have successfully met the criteria, we will notify you by EMAIL. Receiving this EMAIL will tell you that you now have access to full EFILE Online options.

Note: Filing T1 returns requires the use of certified software.

When is a new application necessary

Although most fields on the renewal form can be modified as necessary, a limited number of fields cannot. Changes to these fields are considered significant enough to require a new application and a new EFILE number and password. The specific fields that cannot be revised (once submitted) are the following:

• Name of proprietorship, partnership, or corporation;
• Business Number;
• Federal Partnership Identification Number;
• Business type; and
• Name of business official or principal owner

If your business has undergone one or more of these changes, you must submit a new application:

• a business is sold;
• a business's organizational structure, partnership composition, or controlling interest changes;
• branch sites or managing offices are added;
• names of firms or business names change; or
• partners or corporate officers change.
